Homecoming!

Saturday, March 1, 2008 was the day everyone has been waiting for! Kay was officially discharged from Mt. Sinai! The hard work she and Devin and their families have put in has really paid off. You should have seen the smiles on everyone's faces!

Kay was able to pack up her stuff and leave her room at Mt. Sinai for good and boy was she excited! The day before when she received her discharge papers she read everey word to be sure nothing would keep her from leaving the next day.

For now Kay and Devin will be staying in with Devin's mom and Kay will be attending the outpatient program at Mt. Sinai. What progress this is!

Not only has Kay's physical condition been improving but her memeory is also getting much better. Kay says she feels as if a light turned on two weeks ago. You can see it in her eyes too, more and more of her personality shines through everyday. It's amazing! She has a much better memory than she has in the past 4 months and can recall things from the past 2 weeks that she was not previously able to.

Kay is also able to understand her accident and her current condition much more. While she can't wait until she and Devin can be back in their own house getting on with their lives she understands that for now she needs to continue her physical therapy. Kay does believe (and is probably) correct that her memory and her physical injuries will show great improvement now that she has left the hospital. She thinks that now that she will be able to do more things on her own she will be able to work her right arm and leg much more. She also thinks that her memory will be stimulated more now that she is not spending all the time she is not in therapy in the same hospital room. Kay was becoming bored because the days seemed to run together, hopefully the days will all seem a bit different to her now and improve her memory.

We're all so excited for Kay, Devin & their familes. Kay has really come a long way in the past 4 months and she never gives up! She's a real inspiration!

Kay could not have come this far without everyone's wonderful thoughts and prayers. We'll continue to keep you updated, please continue to support Kay Maybe soon we can even have Kay do some blog entries...might be a good physical therapy exercise.

We Love You Kay!
