Kay's Page

This page is for Kay. On October 25th Kay had a terrible fall which put her in a coma and forced her to undergo brain surgery. Anyone that has met Kay knows she has many, many loving friends and family throughout the world. We created this page so we could all share our support for her through her recovery.

Everyone that knows Kay has witnessed her incredible energy, spirit and amazing love of life. There is nobody who has a bigger heart than she does. She can put a smile on anyone's face and is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet.

Kay's husband, Devin and her family have shown amazing strength. They have gotten her the best medical care and have been a wonderful support system, providing her with all the things she loves while in the hospital.

While the past few days have been the most trying days, Kay is showing wonderful progress. She has shown some movement which is wonderful! Even when asked to move her hand or foot she can often do so in response. Sunday, Kay even started breathing on her own again. The most recent neurologist opinion is that she will eventually walk and talk again.

Through this page we will continue to update Kay's progress. Please feel free to leave your well wishes or even favorite stories about Kay.

Continue to keep Kay in your thoughts and prayers!

We love you Kay!

I haven't spoken w/ David yet (who would be my conduit for information on Kay beyond this blog), but I wanted to send Kay (and Devin) some love through this blog and just say that I'm hoping that all of this, as terrible as it is, is a distant memory in the shortest amount of time possible. I'm sending all the hope and care I can your way, Kay, so I just hope you know that though I'm way down the totem from you I am thinking and hoping for a quick and full recovery (and, again, anyone who's reading this, I don't know the prognosis aside from what Monica's written here, so please understand that I'm writing this from a position of some ignorance).

Godspeed, Kay (and, again, Devin as well, b/c I know you're bearing almost as much burden as Kay in this)!

Also, O'Meara clan, I realize there are tons of other people you would call first if you needed anything, but please know that if there's anything at all I can do for any of you, I would drop everything and do it. David obviously knows how to reach me. And MacDonald fam, I don't know you, but please know my thoughts go out to you as well.

This is terrible news, but having first heard about it this morning, and knowing that Kay has come a long way--she's responsive, breathing on her own and that, from what Monica wrote, the prognosis is good--I hope, like the rest of you, that she makes a full recovery.

And, again, the most important thing is you, Kay, and although you won't be reading this directly maybe there's some benefit to putting it out there "on paper," so here goes: please STAY STRONG, SISTER! You may be all the nice things that Monica wrote about you on this blog, but you're also tough as nails and so I know you have the will to get beyond this!

Apologies for the long comment on here to anyone reading this... Just wanted to pass this onto Kay, Devin and the O'Meara clan.

Kay,
Sending lots of sunshine your way..I know how strong you are and you will get threw this hump in the road. I was driving in a tropical storm today and was thinking about all of our funny memories and the sky was black and all of a sudden out of nowhere were the flock of white doves flying into a full rainbow so I'm going to take that as a great sign for many great things ahead..My prayers go out to all of the O'meara's and Macdonalds..You have a strong bond and through that will aide in kays recovery. Devin keep strong for the both of you..Kay you are always in my heart..Love Felicia

Why do bad things happen to good people? Right now we are all struggling for the answers. Kay, I hold so many memories of you in my mind....and one that really stands out among them was two summers ago when you showed up at a friends wedding in an amazing yellow silk dress with a bubble skirt. You were a vision,,,just a burst of sunshine. It was really the personification of everything you have alway been to me....a burst of sunshine. Having you down now has pulled the rug out from under our world. Right now however, I see and feel the circle of love around you. Devin truly is a "knight in shining armour" strong and smart and loving and using all those attributes now to raise you up and care for you. He has brought much comfort to the rest of your family knowing how much trust they have been able to place in him. Your parents are brave and your brothers and sisters as always there by your side and true to what they have always been to you: loving siblings holding together and playing the roles they have always played in your life.

We are all longing for the time you will greet us with your great big hug and smile...we need you kid so please come back to us soon.

We all are praying for you and the circle of love and prayers is the energy that we hope will give you the strength you need to recover soon.

Kay and Family,
It's been years since we have all spoken, but know every time I hear of the O'Meara family and Kay in particular it brings a smile to my face and a chuckle of some of the times. Kay, you have always been in my heart; your laugh, your smile, your crazy antics are so wonderful...and how can I forget your amazing dance moves. Please know (the entire family) that though I am far I am here for you all and that I think and pray for you daily. God bless you all during this time. Thank you for creating the website so we can all know the wonderful progress Kay is making.

All my love,
