Kay's amazing progress continues! She's still the blushing bride she was 3 months ago. Each time Devin walks in the room she glows and smiles! She has to know what a fighter he has been with her! The amazing attitude is admirable and the phenomenal care he has provided is wonderful! It's obvious they are both happy to be back together!
Devin continues to push for the best care available for Kay. Everyone at NY Presbyterian has been wonderful to Kay and her family...because of them and Kay's phenomenal fight they are already talking about moving her to a rehabilitation facility early next week! It's unbelievable that Kay's fall was only 2 weeks ago. While it has seemed like a lifetime, we only hoped that she could make the kind of progress that Kay has been able to accomplish in 14 days! It is truly unbelievable. With the incredible outpouring of support Kay, Devin and her family have received, some amazing prayers have been answered.
Kay does not go a day without progressing. The nurses have continued taking her off the respirator a bit at a time and giving her just oxygen. She's responding very well. Kay also got the staples out of her head today. She's going to be so relieved that her hair did not have to be cut, especially since she just got it colored the day of the fall! She's the best looking patient in the ICU!
To nobody's surprise Kay is already wanting to talk. When Cindy asked her today if she wanted to look at her collage Kay nodded her head and moved her mouth to say yes.
We all know what a fighter Kay is but everyday she continues to amaze us even more!
We are all so thankful for how far she has come in 2 weeks! She's is the strongest girl we know but she truly could not be doing this without her husband, family, friends and the wonderful support she has been receiving from all over the world.
Please continue to leave Kay your words of encouragement. It's just a matter of time before she will be able to read this herself!
We Love You Kay!

Kay,
What will that ICU do without you? I'm sure you've brought the nurses, doctors, and other patient's family members such joy and hope. It can get pretty depressing in an ICU, as Im sure you know from nursing school... to have someone make constant, steady leaps forward is so incredibly reassuring. It makes those of us in the healthcare field, really truly happy.
Your light and positive aura touches everyone who is near you, knows you, or even hears your name. What a wonder you are Ms. Kay. What a wonder.
I'd like to Thank You too. Your accident, and your recovery, and the love of your soulmate, family and friends, have reminded me, (and I'm sure alot of other people)... about whats important in life. and that life is way too short to get worked up over the little things. We all know this, but sometimes we forget.
Have a wonderful night Kay, get some rest and I'll check back in with you tomorrow.
Love
Kim Costella

jwlqivvvMy dear Kay,
What a wonderful visit we all had with you yesterday. You were so alert and responsive and that twinkle in your eye is still there! You looked like the young lady that I used to take down to Long Island, filled with her unique spirit of adventure. We all cherish those memories and look forward to many more.
You have the most loving family and your husband is your greatest "cheerleader." Together you will get through this experience and always know that you are in all of our thoughts and prayers. We love you Kay...

Kay,
A day doesn't pass without you crossing my mind. Usually when I look in the mirror and see that little "Virgo concentration wrinkle" between my eyes! You hang in there and keep progressing just like your wonderful family is fighting every battle with you! You are amazing!
Love you--
Bethany
